Put your best truck forward

Oct 9, 2020

Supporting AWRE’s longstanding vision of conscientious waste and recycling management, Isuzu Trucks is proud to showcase the FVY 240-300 Dual Control, surely the number one contender for the ‘King of the Urban Waste Task’ crown.

Although the format is a little different, with the benchmark setting model arriving at AWRE via virtual link from Melbourne, the message to fleet operators and managers is clear—expect efficiencies and Isuzu Trucks will deliver.

Local councils and waste heavyweights, alongside those smaller operators seeking to maximise efficiencies are finding Isuzu’s offering of low-tare, factory built and backed dual control trucks an increasingly attractive option as waste and refuse fleet staples.

Isuzu’s preliminary 2020 sales report indicates progressive interest in both side-and rear-loaders by significant global players, and government uptake on the rise with orders taken from several prominent local councils, amongst others.

From September through November this year, Isuzu Trucks is set to deliver over 13 newly constructed and bodied dual control trucks around the country, pointing to a promising year ahead for 2021.

Isuzu Trucks Inside

Rugged, reliable, robust

Built on the indefatigable F Series platform, Isuzu’s dual control trucks are smartly specified for waste applications with impressive payload and capacity for their size. Combining proven capability with all-important manoeuvrability for tight-access driving, the range spans GVM of 12,000 kg through to 24,000 kg available in the following medium-duty models:

  • FSR 140/120-260 Dual Control – 14,000/12,000 kg GVM
  • FVD 165-300 Dual Control – 16,500 kg GVM
  • FVY 240-300 Dual Control MWB & LWB – 24,000 kg GVM
  • FVZ 240-300 Dual Control MWB & MLWB – 24,000 kg GVM

Right up your alley

A standout of Isuzu’s targeted waste and recycling line-up is the FVY 240-300 Dual Control, sporting Hendrickson HAS460 airbag suspension in the rear—and significant tare weight saving to boot, compared with similar multi-leaf steel spring suspension setups.

Matched with a hearty power rating of 221 kW(296HP) @ 2,400 rpm and a generous 981 Nm of torque @ 1,450 rpm, the FVY 240-300 spells out savings for fleet owners and small operators, bringing improved productivity with payload advantage.

The FVY 240-300 incorporates the industry requested features of the F Series dual control range including Allison 6-speed auto transmission and Meritor Q-plus dual circuit ‘S-cam’ front and rear brakes with auto slack adjusters and ABS. Other key components for the FVY include hardwearing Meritor axles with driver-controlled inter-axle lock and cross-locks on both axles.

With renewed focus on driver safety, the interlocks for control changeovers are supported by the FVY’s comprehensive safety suite, featuring yellow safety grab handles and steps, RHS driver airbag, and cornering lamps for laneway safety. Further ensuring driver comfort and ease of operation is the ISRI 6860/875 pneumatic lumbar support drivers chair on both left- and right-hand sides—coming standard in all Isuzu dual control models.

Isuzu Trucks will be presenting a Solution Showcase at the upcoming AWRE Online Event on Wednesday 25 November at 1:30pm, and on Thursday 26 November at 12:3.pm. They’ll also available in a virtual booth at the online exhibition during the conference.
