It’s now mandatory to have a weighbridge for all waste operations in NSW!

Aug 5, 2015

1st November 2014, the NSW Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) introduced new regulations regarding the measurement and recording of waste, known as “the Protection of the Environment Operations (Waste) Regulation 2014 (‘2014 Waste Regulation’)”.  One of the main provisions of the Waste Regulation was that all licensed waste operators in the levy-payable area have to install weighbridges by the 1st of February 2016.

EPA has introduced a Weighbridge Fund that provides grants up to $75000 to help fund the cost of weighbridge installations. The grants are open to waste operations that carry out resource recovery, waste processing (non-thermal treatment) and waste storage facilities.

To help facilitate the new EPA regulations, METTLER TOLEDO, a leading weighbridge manufacturer throughout the world, has developed an essential ‘Weighbridge Buying Guide’ to help waste operators make an informed decision when buying a new weighbridge. The guide contains educational information for new and seasoned weighbridge owners. It covers valuable information on topics such as:

  • How a weighbridge works
  • Scale and weight regulations
  • Basic weighbridge choices
  • Weighbridge performance
  • Weighbridge specifications
  • Site planning
  • Load cells
  • And much more…

Click here to get your free guide or attend the ‘weight based charging’ seminar where METTLER TOLEDO will be present to discuss key issues confronting the waste industry. The seminar is a part of AWRE 2015 and will be held on the 12th of August between 12 to 1pm. Click here for more details and to register.
